Answer

Removing the FCP protocol from an SVM (vserver) will NOT affect CIFS or NFS services.
  • FCP (Fibre Channel Protocol) is a SAN protocol (block storage, uses Fibre Channel).
  • CIFS/SMB and NFS are NAS protocols (file storage, use IP network).
  • These protocols are independent. Removing FCP only stops SAN access (for LUNs via FCP/iSCSI, if any).
  • CIFS and NFS front-end services will continue to function normally.
