  • Yes, ONTAP enforces NFSv4 ACLs consistently across all NAS protocols. 
  • If a file or directory has an NFSv4 ACL, ONTAP uses that ACL to control access regardless of whether the client connects over NFSv3, NFSv4, or SMB/CIFS. The ACL remains enforced even if NFSv4 is later disabled.
