Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Failover Groups
  • Broadcast Domains

Issue

  • When attempting to unjoin a node from a cluster, the operation fails with:

Error: command failed: [Job 30185] Job failed: This operation deletes all failover targets from the failover group that is in use by a LIF (node_mgmt_lif)

  • The management ports for the newer nodes in the cluster are not assigned to a broadcast domain
  • The management ports for the older nodes in the cluster are assigned to the 'Default' broadcast domain
  • The node management LIFs on all nodes utilize the 'Default' failover group, which doesn't contain the management ports for the new nodes because they aren't assigned to the corresponding broadcast domain
