'cifs server create' fails with RESULT_ERROR_LDAPSERVER_STRONG_AUTH_REQUIRED

  • Use start_tls for AD LDAP Connections is false
  • Client Session Security is none
  • Use LDAPS for Secure Active Directory LDAP Connections is false
  • LDAP server is configured to use Strong authentication

Issue

secd.log shows the following error for CIFS creation failure:

 ERR  :  Additional Error Message: 00002028: LdapErr: DSID-0C090275, comment: The server requires binds to turn on integrity checking if SSL\TLS are not already active on the connection, data 0, v3839  { in ldapSaslBindSpnego() at src/connection_manager/secd_connection.cpp:842 }
 ERR  :  RESULT_ERROR_LDAPSERVER_STRONG_AUTH_REQUIRED:7609 in ldapSaslBindSpnego() at src/connection_manager/secd_connection.cpp:846
 ERR  :  ldapSaslBindSpnego: LDAP Error: (8): 'Strong(er) authentication required':
