CIFS access impacted when files locks remain after user sessions close

Issue

  • Users encounter Access Denied errors when attempting to access certain files that they should have permission for
  • Deleted files may return after refreshing the file explorer window
  • Accessing files may cause the client to hang indefinitely
  • Sectrace results may reveal that some or all of these problems are the result of the the files being locked or pending deletion
  • Manually breaking locks on these files may result in temporary relief, but problem reoccurs over time
  • When checking IFSTAT, the Error Symbol counter is incrementing on one or more cluster network ports across the cluster
  • EMS reports Nblade.cifsLockStateMismatch and vifmgr.cluscheck.ctdpktloss
