Issue

  • A high amount of broadcast traffic is observed after ONTAP upgrade to version 9.8.
  • Switch reports the warning STORM_CONTROL_ABOVE_THRESHOLD (The warning may vary depending on the switch vendor).
  • The rate of broadcast traffic generated causes problems in part of the network leading to loss of data access.
  • Storm Control on the network device can disable ports where ONTAP is connected because of high broadcasts.
