Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
    • 9.12.1RC1 -> 9.12.1P11
    • 9.13.1RC1 -> 9.13.1P8
    • 9.14.1RC1 -> 9.14.1P1
  • NFSv4.2

Risk Summary

  • If vserver nfs modify -v4.2-xattrs was manually enabled, this risk can be ignored
  • NFSv4.2 clients accessing SVMs, created before 9.12.1RC1 having -v4.2-xattrs enabled, are not informed that the server's extended attributes option vserver nfs modify -v4.2-xattrs has changed
  • This causes NFS response errors to specific xattr calls when the client and server mismatch
  • This can lead to NFS data, files and directories, not being accessible
