Applies to

  • CIFS
  • Clustered Data ONTAP
  • The user is a member of more than 50 groups.

Issue

The client reports the access denied error message with any file access from the SVM over CIFS, followed by an access granted upon multiple re-attempts. This behavior is most noticeable in environments with folder redirection, like home directories.

Once troubleshooting is completed. Clear the secd tracing. This will ensure no additional overhead is occuring on system by leaving an active trace running.

  • To clear, for all nodes perform the following:
  • ::*> diag secd trace clear -node <nodename> -vserverids yes
