Description

Initiating live storage vMotion in an ESXi 5.5 SAN cluster might experience failure if the VM contains an RDM device.

The failure leads to VM being powered off automatically and service disruption.

NetApp worked with VMware on this issue and VMware had determined the root cause of the storage vMotion failure.

This issue is not storage-specific and VMware will be addressing this issue in a future ESXi release.

Live storage vMotion for ESXi 5.5 is not currently supported if the VM contains an RDM device as indicated in the IMT note 7291.
