“Waiting for giveback” message persists after takeover operation during upgrade

Issue

  • During an ONTAP upgrade, after executing a takeover operation on node-a, the following message is displayed and the process does not progress for an extended period (over 1 hour):

Waiting for giveback...(Press Ctrl+C to abort wait)

  • The expected behavior is for this message to clear within 1–5 minutes, but the system remains in this waiting state, preventing further upgrade steps.
