Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • SAN
  • ESXi

Issue

  • High LUN latency is observed on multiple LUNs across multiple nodes, but no fabric issues are seen (CRCs, etc.).
    • The highest delay center under QOS workload statistics is from CPU N-blade (Network column of qos statistics volume latency show).
  • In one customer case the latency started post-upgrade of the ESXI host to 7.0.3p, but it can happen at any version of ESXi.
  • Coincidentally, there was a throughput increase of read requests from ESXi to ONTAP, maxing out the throughput capacity of the network.
