AIQUM 9.7+ or NSLM may enable workload AQoS causing unexpected latency
Applies to
- ONTAP 9.3 or later
- Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) 9.7 or later
- Adaptive QoS (AQoS)
- NetApp Service Level Manager (NSLM) 1.2 or later
- Performance Service Level (PSL)
- Workloads are created from NSLM or AIQUM
Issue
- Workloads can be throttled by AQoS without manually creating an AQoS policy explicitly.
- This unexpected AQoS policy attached to a workload might lead to high latency in the
QoS Min
delay center.
Example:
Cluster::> qos statistics volume latency show
Workload ID Latency Network Cluster Data Disk QoS Max QoS Min NVRAM
--------------- ------ ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ---------- ----------
...
vol1-wid21368 21368 879.73ms 283.00us 9.00us 498.00us 184.00us 0ms 877.99ms 216.00us
vol2-wid19287 19287 736.25ms 401.00us 8.00us 734.00us 166.00us 0ms 734.91ms 199.00us
Note:
- This high latency could be related to the new QoS Floors-v2 behavior as described in Increased latency due to QOS minimum after upgrade to ONTAP 9.7.
- But this KB mainly focuses on the consequence caused by unexpected AQoS policy settings caused by AIQUM/NSLM.
