  • All Flash FAS (AFF) - ONTAP 9.12.1 & higher
  • FAS (Fabric Attached Storage) - ONTAP 9.14.1 & higher

Answer

  • Beginning in ONTAP 9.12.1, 5% WAFL reserve is only supported for All Flash FAS (AFF), FSx, and the FAS500f platforms
  • When estimating the aggregate space via "aggregate create -simulate true", it still uses 10% WAFL reserve rather than 5%
  • This is the reason why aggregate space is bigger than simulation size
