Answer

  • Windows has NTFS file system written on luns. ONTAP is not aware of the file system. So when a block is deleted from windows, it is deleted according to the windows file system, but its free. ISCSI unmap sends information to ONTAP to release unused blocks.
  • Since DR VM's are offline ISCSI unmap is not running.
