Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Volume efficiency (deduplication)
  • Logical space reporting enabled

Issue

  • When logical space reporting is enabled on a volume with a large amount of efficiency savings (logical data), the size of the volume is incorrectly reported.
  • Logical space reporting off:
::> df -h vol1
Filesystem          total  used   avail  capacity   Mounted on       Vserver
/vol/vol1/          972MB  431MB  540MB  44%        /vol1            vs0
/vol/vol1/.snapshot 51MB   0B     51MB   0%         /vol1/.snapshot  vs0
  • Volume has a fair amount of savings/logical data:
::*> df -s -h vol1
Filesystem    used    total-saved
/vol/vol1/    448MB   581MB
  • Enabling logical space reporting shows the following from a client system:
bash-4.2 /mnt/vol1 > df -h .
Filesystem    Size    Used   Avail   Use%   Mounted on
/vol1         1.6G    1.0G   540M    66%    /mnt/vol1
