Issue

  • SSH connection attempts to the ONTAP node management, SVM management and cluster management LIFs fail following an ONTAP upgrade.
  • The observed behavior is the SSH client window opens briefly and closes immediately, without presenting a login prompt.
  • Cluster nodes log the following error (the reported line number may vary):
Sat Jul 11 2026 11:08:38 -05:00 [auth:CRITICAL] 1 2026-07-11T11:08:38.736627-05:00 cluster-01 sshd 81747 - - fatal: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 111: Directive 'HostKeyAlgorithms' is not allowed within a Match block
Note: The below error may also be logged, however it does not identify this bug:
xinetd.hit.cps.limit: Number of incoming network connections exceeded the configured limit of 10 connections per second for the service ssh. This service will be stopped and restarted after 60 seconds.
