The snapshot deletion fails with the error, 'Snapshot copy has not expired or is locked.'

  • ONTAP 9.13.1 and later
  • Snapshot from deleted clone volume

Issue

  • Create a clone volume with an existing snapshot.
  • After delete the clone volume, unable to delete the snapshot with error as below:
Error: command failed: Snapshot copy "snapshot name" of volume "volume name" on Vserver "vserver name" has not expired or is locked. Use the "snapshot show -fields owners, expiry-time" command to view the expiry and lock status of the Snapshot copy.
