Snapshots are taken for a volume which is made offline for a few days. Will old snapshots be there while making the volumes online?

Answer

Yes, the volume will have a snapshot captured before the volume is taken offline, has there is no activity done on the offline volume unless it is brought online.

Additional Information

  • If the RW volume has snapshots and snapshot autodelete is enabled for it, also if there is a snapshot spill.  We can make that volume offline then it won’t be able to see the usage on that volume, but the snapshots will still be present and once the volume is brought online then the autodelete would trigger as per trigger condition if set. 
  • The offline volume does not take any requests. So, the snapshots should be present on offlined volume unless the auto delete trigger is as per the trigger condition.
