Silent failures during cluster join cause missing vserver config files

Issue

  • New node joined into an existing cluster.
  • The join reported success but different problems show up, as an example (but not limited to these):
    • After placing a vserver management LIF on the affected node, ssh access via that LIF will fail.
    • After placing a vserver data LIF on the affected node:
      • NFS access problems with local-groups show up client-side.
      • CIFS access is impacted.
    • DNS resolution does not work for a data vserver with its management LIF placed on the affected node.
    • Problems with local user authentication when vserver data LIF is placed on the affected node.
    • ndmp generate-password displays "Cannot get password for user"
