Answer

Events of severity level Debug are meant to assist NetApp with diagnostics and are informational only. As such, it is expected to be in the log.

Such events appear in the ONTAP CLI:

  • If the privilege level is set to diagnostic and events were checked by the command:event show
  • If this command was executed: event show -node node1 -severity DEBUG

Example of the logged DEBUG EMS event on the syslog server:

Severity: DEBUG

Message: raid.aggr.log.CP.count: aggregate_type="Aggregate", aggregate_name="aggregate",
aggregate_uuid="xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx", home_owner_id="xxxxxxxxxx", home_owner_name="owner_name",
CP_count="47086"

Description: This message occurs hourly to log the count of all Consistency Points (CPs) that have been done on
the aggregate.
