  • Autonomous Ransomware Protection (ARP)

Answer

Yes, notification can be sent by configure event management system (EMS) notification for arw.snapshot.created event.

Notes:

  • This event requires the configuration of Configure ARP alerts.
  • When ARP creates a snapshot, arw.snapshot.created event is generated.
    • Example for High entropy data detected:

arw.snapshot.created: ARP snapshot created on volume "vol1(1)" (UUID: "xxx") in SVM "SVM1" (UUID: "xxx") at "2025-12-17_0811". Reason: "High entropy writes detected".

  • arw.snapshot.created event was added in ONTAP 9.14.1.
  • Snapshot created by ARP has  Anti_ransomware_backup as prefix.
