Is it possible to create a volume using different aggregates in ONTAP?

Answer

  • Yes, it is possible. It is a Flexgroup volume; a volume that spans across different aggregates in the cluster.
  • By choosing "Distribute volume data across cluster (FlexGroup)" in System Manager when you are creating the volume, ONTAP will automatically select the aggregates to provision the storage for the Flexgroup volume.
