Is it necessary to set the same compression algorithm in both FlexCache and Origin volume when origin volume set with zstd compression?

Answer

No. It is not necessary to set the same compression algorithm in both FlexCache and Origin volume.

  • zstd compression is only supported for TSSE.
  • The cache volume will default to file compression (i.e. default mode). This is because mostly the cache volumes are used for improving performance of reads and cache hot data; hence cold data compression cannot provide any additional benefits.
