IBMi job stops with message "File handle rejected by server" because file was deleted by a different client

Issue

  • NFS client application IBMi running on hostA runs performs that write data to an output file, which is stored in an ONTAP volume
    • If the output file already exists, it is overwritten
  • Sometimes, the IBMi job stops with error message:
    • Commitment control already active.
      Error creating extract file: File handle rejected by server.
      
  • Packet trace shows that when hostA sends an NFS ACCESS Call for the output file, ONTAP replies with NFS3ERR_STALE
