Failed to enable Anti-ransomware on the volume - Unable to set volume attribute

Issue

ONTAP displays an error when
  • Attempting to enable anti-ransomware protection on the volume:

    cluster::> security anti-ransomware volume enable -vserver <vserver_name> -volume <volume_name>
    Error: Failed to enable anti-ransomware on volume "volume_name" in Vserver "vserver_name".
    Reason: Unable to set volume attribute "anti-ransomware-state" for volume "volume_name" on Vserver "vserver_name".

  • Or start ARP in the learning mode:

    cluster::> security anti-ransomware volume dry-run -volume <volume_name> -vserver <vserver_name>
    Error: Failed to dry-run anti-ransomware on volume "volume_name" in Vserver "vserver_name"
    Reason: Unable to set volume attribute "anti-ransomware-state" for volume "volume_name" on Vserver "vserver_name".
