boot_diags fails to start after initiating through BMC system console session

Issue

Attempting to issue the boot_diags command to execute diagnostics on an AFF A800 or diagnostics on an AFF A320 the system may never reach diagnostics mode and freeze similar to this output:

LOADER-A> boot_diags
[…]
Starting program at 0x000000006087130c

At this point the system will not boot any further.
