Issue

  • The ONTAP EMS shows that the initiators are logging in frequently :
 
[Node-1: fct_tpd_work_thread_0: scsitarget.fct.portLogin:notice]: Login at target FC port: '9a' by initiator port: 'xx:xx:00:xx:00:00:xx:56' address 0x1x00xx. The target virtual port is: 'NetApp FC Target Port (LPe16000) SVM1:Node-1-2x'.
 
 
  • Below steps need to be followed to isolate the issue further-
    • Check the FC port state from the Server-side and switch port error statistics.  vserver fcp ping-initiator show  can be used on storage end to check connectivity check (ping) between FCP initiators and FCP LIFs.
    • Verify all physical components of the connection end to end are healthy.
    • Identify the reason and remedy factor causing FC adapter aborts/reset resulting in the ONTAP EMS log.
