ONTAP 9.6 and later: Weekly SPARES_LOW Autosupport are being sent following a disk replacement
Applies to
- ONTAP 9.6 and later
- Root Data Data partitioning (ADPv2)
- Platforms with a Dedicated core dump device. Example:
- AFF A250, FAS500f
- AFF A400, FAS8700, FAS8300
- AFF A220, FAS2750, FAS2720
- AFF A700, FAS9000
- AFF A800
- AFF A320
- AFF A300
- AFF A700s
Issue
- After a disk replacement and correct assignment, ONTAP reports weekly SPARES_LOW Autosupport
- There is an Alert after a partitioned disk fails. This happens even when there is a full spare available on the node after the replacement.
Fri Jun 18 16:00:00 -0400 [node_name: config_thread: callhome.spares.low:error]: Call home for SPARES_LOW
- Checking for available spares will only show root partitions (P3) and one full disk available
Example:
cluster::> node run -node * sysconfig -r
[...]
node-01

Note: The error doesn't impact the cluster if the failed disk was already replaced. If another partitioned disk fails ONTAP will partition the available spare by default.
