Issue

  • On an NS224 shelf, the ! LED indicator turns on and off repeatedly due to cooling fan error:

Sep 27 07:19:04 [node_name:ses.status.fanError:EMERGENCY]: NS224NSM100 (S/N XXXX) shelf 0 on channel 0x cooling fan error for Cooling element 12: critical status. This element is on the unknown location.
Sep 27 09:43:25 [node_name:ses.status.fanError:EMERGENCY]: NS224NSM100 (S/N XXXX) shelf 0 on channel 0x cooling fan error for Cooling element 17: critical status. This element is on the unknown location.

Fan "12" is running below normal RPM threshold. Fan is located in the inlet FAN of fan module 2 in the bottom shelf module (B).
Fan "17" is running below normal RPM threshold. Fan is located in the outlet FAN of fan module 2 in the bottom shelf module (B).

Corrective Action

Verify that the fan module is fully seated and secured (fan is integrated into the power supply module in some disk shelves). If the problem persists, replace the fan
