Issue

  • After a server reboot customer experienced considerable delay (about 45 seconds) in their mounts coming up.  All mounts are NFS V3.  This happened in several Linux (Ubuntu) servers
  • Packet  traces will show that there was no delay in the actual mount command which completes in well under 1 milli second.
  • mount -vvv  <mountpoint>  shows that it attempts to mount using NFS V4 or V4.1 and then there is a wait for several seconds before v3 mount is attempted and the mount completes successfully
  • /var/log/messages on the host will have messages as below:

statd appears to be slow to respond/unresponsive
