Issue

ONTAP uses the external management network to access API services of Service Processors (SP) or baseboard management controllers (BMC) on other nodes in the cluster.

  • Both ONTAP and the SP or BMC use specific TCP ports for secure, encrypted communication.
  • However, these ports are also reachable by hosts with access to the management network.
