Lack of redundant power between the PSUs avoids the node to keep online

Issue

  • One of the nodes in a HA pair reboots and the following alert is triggered in autosupport:

HA Group Notification (CONTROLLER TAKEOVER COMPLETE AUTOMATIC) ALERT

  • There are no other errors seen in the logs regarding shelves, PSUs, or PDUs.
  • The power outlets serving power to either PSU2 and PSU4 OR PSU1 and PSU3 lost power.
  • The following events are seen in the BMC event logs of the affected node:

Record 2404: Sat Apr 27 19:08:37.000000 2024 [BMC.emergency]: System input power lost
Record 2405: Sun Jan 01 00:00:20.255331 2017 [IPMI.notice]: 05d8 | c0 | OEM: ffff7000ff00 | ManufId: 150300 | BMC Power Reset
Record 2406: Sun Jan 01 00:00:20.256552 2017 [IPMI.notice]: 05d9 | c0 | OEM: fcff70560000 | ManufId: 150300 | POS Register: Power on Reset(Normal Power Cycle)
