Answer

No, a system shutdown is not required.

  • All ONTAP hardware including controllers and shelves support changing the input voltage between 100-120V AC (low-line) and 200-240V AC (high-line) without disruptions.
  • The PSUs can autorange between 100VAC and 240VAC automatically, so there is no need to change power supply units as part of input voltage changes.
  • Mixed voltage between redundant PSUs in the chassis is supported temporarily while changing input voltages (for a few minutes), but mixed voltages are not supported for long-term use.
  • Change the input voltage for each PSU one at a time. Allow time for the PSU to stabilize for a minute before changing the input voltage of the second PSU.
