  • Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)

Answer

  • No, it is not usually required.
    • BMC firmware is bundled with ONTAP and is automatically checked and updated during ONTAP boot.
    • If the BMC firmware was manually upgraded to a version newer than the ONTAP-bundled version, a separate firmware update may be required after the replacement.
    • When ONTAP is operating normally, BMC settings are synchronized with ONTAP.
    • Therefore, BMC reconfiguration is typically not required after replacing the management module.
