Description

A node panic containing the string “Permanent errors on all HA mailbox disks” indicates that the node was unable to talk to the HA mailbox disks.

  • The HA mailbox disks are the first two disks of the aggregate containing the root volume.
  • The controller was not able to talk to either the parity or the first data disk.
  • Various component failures can cause one or more disks to become inaccessible.
    • Typically, the root problem is either a single disk  or a non-disk component (e.g. bus adapter, cable, shelf, etc.) that causes several disks to appear to be inaccessible.

Example EMS Message
