Issue

  • Event log shows:

[Node1-01: upgrademgr: upgrademgr.update.pausedErr:error]: The automated update of the cluster has been paused due to the following reason:  Node "Node1-01": Error: {Node "Node1-02" is not in "waiting for giveback" state.}, Action: {Use the "storage failover show" to verify that node "Node1-02" is in one of the following states: "waiting for giveback" or "connected".}.

  [Node1-01: notifyd: callhome.andu.pausederr:alert]: params: {'subject': 'AUTOMATED NDU PAUSED ON NODE: Node1-01', 'epoch': '000abc00-0a00-00ab-ab0c-0ab0c0de0fg0'}

  • When trying to reboot the node with boot_ontap  machine halts
  • Fails to system power cycle 
  • boot_ontap maint also fails to load the system
