FC SAN host loses connectivity to lun/datastore during ONTAP upgrade

Issue

  • During ONTAP upgrade/ANDU, host lost connectivity complete connectivity to FC luns.
  • san.initiator.login.missing ems events observed just after the ONTAP upgrade:
Sun Apr 23 01:07:33 +0530 [netapp1: bcomd: san.initiator.login.missing:notice]: Initiator "10:00:00:10:9b:xy:xx:yy" is not logged in to any LIFs on this node for Vserver "SVM", portset "-". Access to LUNs might be disrupted if a failover occurs.
  • Host did not initiate connection back to ONTAP when the node came back up after reboot during the ONTAP upgrade
  • Toggled the LIF , few of the initiators did not login back to the fabric
