Ethernet Interface port on Controller is going up to down daily

Issue

  • Multiple port link down events in EMS logs. Example:

[node_name: kernel: netif.linkDown:info]: Ethernet e1a: Link down, check cable.
[node_name: intr: net.ifgrp.lacp.link.inactive:error]: ifgrp a0a, port e1a has transitioned to an inactive state. The interface group is in a degraded state.
[node_name: vifmgr: vifmgr.portdown:notice]: A link down event was received on node node_name, port e1a.
[node_name: kernel: netif.linkUp:info]: Ethernet e1a: Link up.
[node_name: vifmgr: vifmgr.portup:notice]: A link up event was received on node node_name, port e1a.
[node_name: intr: net.ifgrp.lacp.link.active:notice]: ifgrp a0a, port e1a has transitioned to the active state.
[node_name: vifmgr: vifmgr.reach.noreach:notice]: Network port e1a on node node_name cannot reach its expected broadcast domain Default:Default. No other broadcast domains appear to be reachable from this port.ifstat show an increasing amount of "up to downs" for the selected port and no other errors 

  • "up to down" counter increasing in the ifstat output for the afected port. Example

  • No other errors noticed in the ifstat output
  • Issue persist after a cable replacement
  • issue persist after a switch port change 
  • Issue persist after a patch panel port change.
