"Error : could not retrieve partner SFO information" During initial HA config

Issue

  • Initial config of the High Availability(HA) fails due to not able to retrieve the partner SFO information:

Cluster::> cluster ha modify -configured true
Warning: High Availability (HA) configuration for cluster services requires
         that both SFO storage failover and SFO auto-giveback be enabled. These
         actions will be performed if necessary.
Do you want to continue? {y|n}: y

Error: command failed: Could not retrieve partner SFO information: entry
       doesn't exist.

 

  • Checking CLUSTER HA SHOW and STORAGE FAILOVER SHOW confirms the configuration failed:

Cluster::*> cluster ha show
High-Availability Configured: false
High-Availability Backend Configured (MBX): false

Cluster::*> storage failover show -fields reason
node   reason
------ ------
Node-01 -
Node-02 "Storage failover mailbox disk state is invalid","Local node missing partner disks"
2 entries were displayed.

 

  •  Checking STORAGE-FAILOVER.XML we see that Node-01 has local mailbox disks 18/19/20, when we check Node-02 we see mailbox disk 20 is missing in
    SYSCONFIG-R:

Local Mailbox Disks 1.0.18.P3, 1.0.19.P3, 1.0.20.P3

  19   : NETAPP   X4020S173A15TNQF NA55 14651.0GB 4160B/sect (S612NE0WA12706)
  21   : NETAPP   X4020S173A15TNQF NA55 14651.0GB 4160B/sect (S612NE0WA14074)
