Cisco Switch ISSU Upgrade Precheck Cannot Proceed due to Non-Edge forward port

Applies to

  • NetApp ONTAP clusters (all platform)
  • Cisco Nexus cluster interconnect switches (e.g., 9336C-FX2)
  • Cisco NX-OS upgrades using ISSU (In-Service Software Upgrade)
  • Cluster environments using Cisco vPC and Spanning TreeProtocol (STP)

Issue

  • During the Cisco switch upgrade precheck for ISSU (In-Service Software Upgrade), the following error is reported:

ISSU Cannot Proceed! on cluster switch

ISSU cannot proceed when a non-edge port is in Designated Forwarding state.

No Active Topology change Found!
Criteria 1 PASSED !!

No Ports with BA Enabled Found!
Criteria 2 PASSED!!

List of all the Non-Edge Ports
