Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • FAS / AFF Systems
  • CRC errors reporting on a single port

Issue

  • The high number of CRC errors resulting from indirect I/O has led to outages, while the instability in the cluster network on a node, caused by these excessive CRCs, has impacted access to the CIFS share, as the traffic must navigate through the cluster network.
  • The cluster port link, which experienced a high number of CRC errors, remained operational and caused an outage until it was either taken down or the LIF was switched to the backup cluster port.
