SnapMirror is recommended for the following reasons:

  1. There are no transfer issues even if the source is active. (With XCP, if there are frequent updates to the active filesystem, the transfer may stop due to errors.)
  2. Although a SnapMirror license is required, preparing a separate XCP host is unnecessary. (Typically, XCP is used for data migration between third-party storage and NetApp storage.)
