Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • SnapMirror
  • High Availability
  • Takeover and Giveback

Answer

  • A SnapMirror initialization will not retry when a takeover and giveback occurs and must be done manually.
  • A SnapMirror update will retry after giveback finishes and the next scheduled update occurs.

Additional Information

  • There is no resume mechanism in ONTAP but it is based upon the SnapMirror schedule.
    • This is why an initialization will not resume; there is no scheduled initialization.
