Unable to Remove Stale Cloud Relationship from ONTAP Volume

  • ONTAP 9.14.1P10
  • AFF-A300
  • SnapMirror with Cloud Backup Service (CBS) relationships
  • Environments where cloud object store relationships were deleted outside of ONTAP (e.g., manually in Azure or BlueXP)

Issue

  • After deleting a SnapMirror relationship to the cloud (Azure) outside of ONTAP/BlueXP, the ONTAP System Manager UI still displays a cloud icon for the volume ,indicating a backup relationship exists. 
  • Attempts to remove the cloud relationship using standard ONTAP CLI commands fail with errors such as:

    ::> snapmirror release -destination-path <path>
    Error: command failed: Object store "object name" does not exist.

    ::*> snapmirror object-store config show
    This table is currently empty.
