Applies to

  • ONTAP 9.8RC1 - ONTAP 9.8P1
  • Type DP SnapMirror

Issue

  • After upgrading a SnapMirror destination to ONTAP 9.8RC1, ONTAP 9.8, or ONTAP 9.8P1, type DP snapmirror transfers begin failing with checksum errors:
Transfer for volume [volume name] failed. Reason: Transfer failed. (Checksum mismatch (Replication engine error))
  • The SnapMirror source is running ONTAP 9.7 on All-Flash FAS (AFF) and has object packing enabled (default)
  • On the snapmirror destination, sktrace logs (/etc/log/mlog/sktrace.log) contains checksum mismatch for vvbn messages, correlating to the snapmirror transfer errors
  • There is no evidence of network issues such as bad TCP checksums or other issues described in SnapMirror transfers fail with checksum mismatch or unmarshal errors
