Snapmirror failure after Cloud Volumes Ontap (CVO) upgrade

Issue

After upgrade messages similar to these examples are found in EMS and SnapMirror Audit logs .
 
cpeer.xcm.update.warn: Periodic update of peer network information failed.
The following operations are incomplete: discovery failure.
cpeer.unavailable: Peer cluster XXXXX is no longer available.

Recovery snapshot is not created on destination since the source snapshot is created by SnapMirror.
status=Failure message=Transfer failed.(Replication operation request failed from Cluster Id:
...... due to a network error(CSM: Operation referred to a non-existent session.))
