SnapVault relationship fails between ONTAP 9.12 and ONTAP 9.16

Issue

  • When creating a SnapVault relationship between a source cluster running ONTAP 9.12.1P10 and a destination cluster running ONTAP 9.16.1P5, the initialization completes successfully.
  • However, running a SnapMirror update results in the following error message:
"ERROR smc.snapmir.update.fail: Snapmirror update from source volume 'SVM1:vol1' to destination volume 'svn2:vol1' failed with error 'Snapmirror policy rules with schedules on destination support requires an effective cluster version of ONTAP 9.14.1 or later.'. Relationship UUID '0d367678-6d99-11f6-8261-d444eabd3a1d'.
