Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • SnapMirror
  • SnapVault

Issue

  • When replicating with SnapMirror from a source cluster which is running a major ONTAP version lower than the destination cluster's major ONTAP version, a delay is seen at the start of the transfer
  • This delay is typically ~1min and is seen for all replications between a source cluster's lower major ONTAP version to a destination cluster's higher major ONTAP version
  • This issue does not occur when replicating from a higher major ONTAP version to a lower major ONTAP version or when source and destination clusters are the same ONTAP version
  • Major ONTAP version refers to 9.x. For example, 9.7 and 9.8 are different major ONTAP versions but 9.8 and 9.8P10 are the same major ONTAP version
