Applies to

  • ONTAP 9.12.1
  • ONTAP 9.13.1P11 and earlier
  • ONTAP 9.14.1P7 and earlier
  • ONTAP 9.15.1P3 and earlier
  • SnapMirror Synchronous (SM-S)

Issue

  • An ONTAP cluster is the source for a fanout snapmirror, with one common source and two separate snapmirror destinations
  • The snapmirror source fans out to one asynchronous snapmirror destination, as well as another synchronous snapmirror destination
  • After upgrading to ONTAP 9.12.1P2, snapmirror resync operations that previously worked without error begin failing
  • Attempts to run snapmirror resync on the asynchronous snapmirror relationship result in failed to start transfer...invalid base snapshot

Note: This scenario only applies to SnapMirror Synchronous (SM-S) used outside of SnapMirror active sync (SM-as, formerly SnapMirror Business Continuity (SM-BC.))
