Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • SnapMirror
  • Storage efficiency

Issue

  • The SnapMirror destination aggregate reached 98% full compared to 71% on the source aggregate despite having almost identical volumes.
  • The SnapMirror relationships use the Snapmirror XDP engine with Logical Replication with Storage Efficiency (LRSE), which maintains source-side storage efficiency savings.
  • There is a big difference in the aggregate efficiency savings between the source and destinations:

Source aggregate:

cluster1::*> df -A -S

Aggregate                 used       total-saved    %total-saved    deduplicated    %deduplicated    compressed    %compressed
aggr1_cluster1_01  24931857788       16729430368             40%     16729430368              40%             0             0%

Destination aggregate:

cluster2::*> df -A -S

Aggregate                 used       total-saved    %total-saved    deduplicated    %deduplicated    compressed    %compressed
aggr1_cluster2_01  34579937728               104              0%             104               0%             0             0%
